Young Bands Run Free

By March 18, 2014March 20th, 2014No Comments

The Elderflower Fields Youth Band Competition is back for a 3rd year.

We’ve always supported new music and tried to offer opportunities for young musicians to perform at Elderflower Fields and this is particularly the case with our Youth Band Competition. An initiative we’ve promoted from our very first year, the competition invites young bands and performers from across the UK to submit recordings to us. A shortlist of the best dozen or so bands is drawn up and the public then vote, via the festival Facebook page, for their favourite.

The top band gets to perform a full set on the main stage in front of a proper festival crowd and in previous years this has been a real highlight of the weekend. In addition runner up bands and a “festival organisers choice” act get to perform on the smaller stages.

It’s an exciting opportunity for young bands and musicians to have a crack at promoting themselves and performing on a big stage with top quality equipment and technicians.

For more information and to enter the competition, young musicians should head to the Youth Band Competition page of the website here.
